ChainCatcher reported that the 16th upgrade of the Tezos protocol, Paris, was launched on the mainnet on June 5, with the goal of making the network faster and more scalable.

A key goal of the upgrade and Tezos' scalability roadmap is to keep transaction fees low in the EVM-compatible L2 network Etherlink, including under high network demand.

Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman said that after the upgrade, Etherlink is now cheaper than Arbitrum and Optimism, and the user experience (UX) has been improved.
