Binance founder Changpeng Zhao surrendered to a low-security federal prison to serve his sentence. The crypto community considered this step by the former CEO as a positive gesture.

Following his prison sentence, Zhao announced his intention to continue his activities in the cryptocurrency industry after completing his four-month prison term. He emphasized that this period is a "new phase for the crypto industry" and underlined the importance of compliance with regulations and rules.

Zhao was sentenced to four months in prison and ordered to pay a $50 million fine on charges of money laundering on the cryptocurrency exchange. Zhao accepted responsibility for Binance's failure to implement an effective Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program.
