Japanese Cryptocurrency Exchange was Hacked, Thousands of Bitcoins were Stolen!

Japanese cryptocurrency exchange DMM had hundreds of millions of dollars of Bitcoin (BTC) stolen.

According to the news reported by Coinpost, Japan-based cryptocurrency exchange DMM was attacked. Attackers captured 4,502 BTC worth $305 million.

In the first statement made by the stock exchange, it was stated that all stolen assets will be returned:

You can be sure that, with the support of group companies, we will provide an amount of BTC equivalent to the exit and guarantee the full amount.

DMM has temporarily restricted spot purchases and withdrawals to prevent further abuse. This attack was recorded as the second largest hacking incident in Japan.

Another cryptocurrency exchange named Coincheck suffered a $370 million cyber attack in 2018.

Following the attack, there was a significant drop in the price of Bitcoin. According to CoinGecko data, Bitcoin, which lost 2% in value in the last 2 hours, fell from $ 68,800 to $ 67,480.
