Yakovenko has issued a warning against attempts to fuel intense competition between protocols, including Ethereum and Solana, which is often referred to as the “ETH Killer.”

Although Solana is receiving increasing praise from the industry, Yakovenko emphasized that community members should not stimulate unhealthy competition with the Ethereum protocol.

Yakovenko Comments On ETH Killer
Anatoly Yakovenko, the founder of Solana, sounded the warning via a post on the Twitter X platform to avoid unhealthy competition between protocols, including Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL), which is often dubbed the “ETH Killer.”
Yakovenko stated that supporting narratives against Ethereum could have a negative impact on the ecosystem. He proposes that protocols can coexist or compete without endangering each other.
"Technologies that are efficient in staking can have similar and competing characteristics, but this is something that is normal. In my opinion, there is no scenario where Solana is a huge success and Ethereum suddenly disappears," said one of Solana's founders.
Furthermore, Anatoly expressed optimism about the upcoming technology called “Danksharding,” which he believes will have sufficient capacity to accommodate all of Solana's data and allow adding blocks at a more affordable cost on blockchain technology.
“Danksharding” is an Ethereum rollup scaling method where transactions can grow by providing extra storage space for transactions outside the main network. Yakovenko's statements about Ethereum highlight that SOL and ETH can coexist, perhaps even intersect without causing discomfort.
Solana Founders Squeeze Competition with Ethereum
Although Solana is increasingly receiving praise from the industry, Yakovenko cautioned community members against provoking unhealthy competition with the Ethereum protocol. This warning comes as Rune Christensen, Founder and CEO of MakerDAO, announced plans to spin off Ethereum's NewChain protocol into the Solana blockchain. This news sparked a response that was considered a fight among Solana supporters.
Yakovenko was quick to point out that this is a success for open source in general. He stated, "I sincerely hope the Solana community does not use this as a tool to attack Ethereum," referring to the situation.
In October, a member of the Ethereum community named jebus.eth attempted to criticize Solana by saying that Solana is a mix of poor and rich who don't understand the origins of value or how it is created, only knowing that they want everything to be cheap. However, the Solana founder immediately responded, insisting that the protocol pursues a completely decentralized digital space, where reality is free from the control of capitalist intermediaries and government oversight, allowing communications and transactions to circulate freely.
