Trump promised to pardon the founder of the Silk Road if elected.

At the Libertarian Party National Convention in Washington, D.C., former US President Donald Trump promised to commute the sentence of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht if he is re-elected.

Trump said Ulbricht served 11 years in prison and "we want him to come home." Many in the audience held signs reading "Free Ross" and enthusiastically applauded Trump's remark. Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to two life terms plus 40 years in prison in 2015 for founding and operating the darknet marketplace Silk Road, which was essentially a life sentence with no possibility of parole.
