Kabosu, the dog representing Dogecoin, passed away on the morning of May 24 at the age of 18, according to the owner in a blog post.

“Today, Kabosu, a mutual friend and inspiration of our community, passed away peacefully in the arms of his owner,” Dogecoin's official account on X wrote on Friday. “The impact this dog has made around the world is immeasurable.”

Kabosu's iconic meme gained popularity in the early 2010s, leading to the birth of Dogecoin (DOGE) in 2013.
