Maker is a decentralized financial ecosystem with the DAI stablecoin and MKR governance token at its core. MKR tokens are used as governance tokens in MakerDAO, and holders can participate in the risk management and key decisions of the Maker platform, such as adding new collateral currencies or modifying risk parameters when DAI is issued.
MakerDAO is a highly transparent decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that allows MKR holders to jointly manage the Maker platform. MKR is also used to pay the fees incurred by the collateralized debt position (CDP) during the issuance of DAI. The used MKR tokens will be destroyed, which helps maintain the stable value of DAI.
