Odaily Planet Daily News Panasonic announced last week a project to explore the use of DCJPY digital currency to make tourist passes. DCJPY is a tokenized deposit program backed by Japan's largest companies and is scheduled to be launched in mid-2024. The core of the experiment will involve sightseeing passes that allow tourists to take unlimited trains and buses for a fixed fee and enjoy discounts in shops, restaurants and other leisure destinations. The goal is to use smart contracts to divide the proceeds paid by tourists. Other project participants will include DeCurret, the company behind DCJPY, KDDI Telecom subsidiary au Financial, IT consulting firm TIS, and SocioFuture. (Ledgerinsights)
