According to TechFlow, according to a sentencing memorandum filed on Tuesday, former FTX executive Ryan Salame pleaded guilty to charges of election fraud, and his lawyer asked the court for leniency and requested an 18-month sentence.

The attorneys said Salame was primarily responsible for processing client bank deposits and fiat currency exchanges while at FTX and Alameda, was involved in political donations and led charitable projects in the Bahamas. The attorneys argued that Salame’s role in the shuttered companies was marginal and highlighted his cooperation, genuine remorse, efforts to address substance abuse issues, and significant personal and financial losses suffered as a result of the exchange’s collapse.

They pointed out that Salame was the first to report the FTX scam to the Bahamian authorities after learning about it and provided documents to US prosecutors without accepting a grand jury subpoena. At the same time, the lawyers also said that FTX's media criticism and association with Bankman-Fried will result in Salame being punished for life and unable to find a job again.
