Several issuers, including VanEck and Australian funds BetaShares and DigitalX, have filed applications to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024, Bloomberg sources said. The filings come after U.S. product issuers exceeded $53 billion in capital under management.

Representatives of the ASX exchange confirmed that the platform is interacting with several issuers who have expressed interest in Bitcoin spot ETFs. At the same time, they refused to comment on the information that the launch of the products will take place before the end of 2024.

Earlier, Jack Wang, a Bloomberg representative at a conference in Hong Kong on ETF products, said that investors in mainland China will not be able to purchase Bitcoin ETF units in Hong Kong, since the Chinese government banned all transactions with cryptocurrencies many years ago.
