The pinnacle of Bitcoin history! A shocking moment 11 years ago, the first halving debuted

On November 28, 2012, Bitcoin experienced its first halving event, 3 years and 10 months after the mining of the first Bitcoin block. At the time, Bitcoin was trading at around $12, 308,200% below the current Bitcoin price.

Before the first halving event, Bitcoin mining rewards were 50 Bitcoins per block.

After the first halving in 2012, the mining reward dropped to 25 Bitcoins. This was followed by a second halving in 2016, which reduced the mining reward to 12.5 Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s last halving occurred in 2020, with the mining reward reduced from 12.5 Bitcoin to 6.25 Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s fourth halving is expected to occur on April 17, 2024.
