Fraudsters are promoting a financial pyramid scheme on Telegram based on investments in the Toncoin (TON) cryptocurrency. Kaspersky Lab experts reported this.

Participants are offered to buy one of the “booster” tariffs and invite friends to the project via a referral link, promising passive interest in TON.

The victim must purchase from 5.5 TON to 501 TON on the legal market and deposit it into the address created through an unofficial bot. This is how fraudsters gain access to assets.

When registering, the organizers of the scheme recommend not using official wallets for storage, supposedly “to avoid loss of access to funds.”

Registration requires entering the address of a crypto wallet previously created in the bot.

Participants in the pyramid are forced to distribute presentations of this method of earning money among groups and personally tell their friends “about the benefits of the service.” To start making payments, you need to invite at least five referrals, for each they promise 25 TON and commissions depending on the “booster” they purchased.

Kaspersky Lab did not name the number of victims of the scam, but noted that the abundance of advertising videos may indicate a “significant number of victims.”

Let us remind you that the popularity of the Toncoin cryptocurrency is growing after a number of announcements, including the release of USDT on the TON network and cryptocurrency payments to content creators on Telegram. However, this did not have a positive effect on the price of the token.#binance
