Hackers hacked El Salvador's Bitcoin wallet
Earlier this month, CiberInteligenciaSV leaked the database of more than five million users of El Salvador's national cryptocurrency wallet. Information includes last names, first names and email addresses. It is noteworthy that this is almost the entire adult population of the country.
El Salvador is the first country in the world to accept Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender. The government is actively promoting Chivo as the official cryptocurrency wallet for citizens. The platform allows you to buy and sell the main cryptocurrency, as well as store and withdraw tokens in special crypto-ATMs.
However, the state cryptocurrency wallet is not the most successful development of the Salvadoran authorities. Since the launch of the product, users have complained about numerous errors and technical glitches in its operation.
The government is in no hurry to solve these problems. Despite the fact that the first news about the leak of the Chivo user database appeared almost a month ago, the authorities have not yet commented on the incident or resolved the security problems of the cryptocurrency wallet.
