According to U.Today, Grok, an AI chatbot developed by xAI, a startup founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk, has outperformed its competitor, ChatGPT, in terms of global availability and cost. A recent tweet from a member of the X and DOGE development teams revealed that Grok is now more affordable and accessible to users worldwide on the X platform than ChatGPT-4's monthly subscription.

Grok is now available to all users of X Premium. The monthly subscription cost for X Premium, which includes Grok, is $8, while the monthly subscription for ChatGPT-4 is $20. This makes Grok 60% cheaper than its OpenAI rival, which Musk has criticized for being 'woke'.

Musk first criticized OpenAI and ChatGPT in early 2023, accusing the AI chatbot of deliberately avoiding certain topics with its users, such as sex, politics, religion, and gender self-identification. This criticism followed Musk's acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion and its rebranding as the X app, reflecting his belief in the importance of free speech. To address what he saw as OpenAI's shortcomings, Musk launched xAI and introduced the Grok AI chatbot to the community in late fall of the same year. The bot was immediately integrated into X and made available on X Premium+.

In a recent tweet, Musk announced an upcoming 'unhinged' news mode for Grok on the X platform, which will summarize hot topics and news for all Premium users. The crypto community has shown enthusiasm for this update, supporting Musk's stance against OpenAI and other major IT companies that have incorporated 'wokeness' into their policies. A recent tweet from the founder of CryptoQuant featured a screenshot of Grok 'roasting' Musk at his request, something Musk claimed ChatGPT would never do to its creators.
