Tether decided to turn to AI due to concerns about monopolizing technology development in this field. The company will focus on developing open source models and setting new standards in the industry. To make this happen, Tether is looking for "top talent" to join its new AI division.
Previously, Tether loaned Northern Data company $610 million to improve their hardware system, and invested $420 million to buy GPUs from Nvidia, a special type of chip that supports AI.
