Musk announced via Twitter this afternoon that his artificial intelligence company xAI will open source the artificial intelligence assistant Grok within this week, marking the beginning of a new round of artificial intelligence war.

Elon Musk announced the establishment of xAI on July 12, 2023. The company's goal is to focus on answering deeper scientific questions, hoping that artificial intelligence can be used in the future to help people solve complex scientific and mathematical problems and understand "the universe" .

The company's team members have worked in DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla and the University of Toronto, and are led by Elon Musk. Team members include 11 core members including Igor Babushkin, Kyle Kosic, and Greg Yang, whose backgrounds are closely related to mathematics, physics, and computer science.

In November 2023, xAI released its first AI chat product, named “Grok”. Grok's name comes from Robert Anson Heinlein's science fiction novel "Stranger in a Strange Land," which means to fully understand something or someone.
