A different sort of 'flippening'
'Flippening' is one of many terms that's either been invented or popularised by crypto.
It's a portmanteau between the words 'happening' and 'flipping', and it refers to the potential moment Ethereum will 'flip' Bitcoin in terms of market cap.
Which never happened. And probably never will.
However, we've seen a different sort of flippening yesterday, when Solana (SOL) flipped Binance Coin (BNB) to become the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market cap after BTC, ETH and USDT.
This isn't set in stone yet. Solana is only ahead of BNB by about $1 billion, so don't be surprised if that change again in the next few weeks or even days. It's still impressive, though.
For some reason, Solana has always been of those crypto projects with determined, unshakeable, diehard fans.
They never really stopped believing even after the FTX drama caused SOL to nosedive.
But SOL survived that, and then it thrived with the hype around the airdrops and the Solana Saga smartphone.
