A Big NO for CBDC From Doland Trump, Here’s Why
As the Central Bank of Digital Currency (CBDC) continuously evolves, with many countries in pilot testing and steadily progressing towards new developments to launch it comprehensively. Amidst this, on January 17, 2024, the former President and upcoming presidential candidate, Donald Trump, made a massive statement during the campaign about CBDC.
Donald Trump opposes CBDC
On January 17, 2024, during the presidential election campaign speech in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the former President of the United States, Trump, made a statement,
“Tonight, I’m making another promise to protect Americans from government tyranny. As the United States president, I’ll never allow the creation of the Central Bank of Digital Currency.”
Besides this, he also addressed the people of New Hampshire with additional words. In his speech, when he declared that he would never allow the creation of CBDC, he received an amazing response from the audience. Following this, he remarked, “I didn’t know you guys knew so much,” and praised the audience through his speech by saying, “New Hampshire, very smart people.”

After this, Mr. Trump explained why he was expressing concerns about what would happen once CBDC is approved and how the government would behave. Trump, after praising the audience, explained that,
“Such a currency would give the federal government, our federal government, absolute control over your money […] they could take your money, and you wouldn’t even know it was gone. This would be a dangerous threat to your freedom, and I will stop it from coming to America.”

Vivek Ramaswamy now supports Donald Trump
This is not the first time a politician has opposed CBDC, earlier, Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor and Republican candidate, had pledged to oppose central bank digital currencies if elected. However, according to a recent report on January 15, 2024, Ron DeSantis lost to Trump in Iowa, a crucial battleground state. DeSantis has consistently trailed Trump by more than 10 points in polls since the beginning of his campaign.
After this result, Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican candidate with a crypto-focused agenda, withdrew from the race on January 15 after securing about 8% of the vote in the Iowa Caucus. Following the January 15 result of the Iowa Caucus, Vivek officially highlights his support for Donald Trump.
Additionally, in the United States, it seems that people are not happy with CBDC, which is the reason Trump used CBDC in his speech in front of the audience, and the people of New Hampshire also enjoyed it.
