[Gemini receives VASP approval in France, preparing to launch retail and institutional services]

Cryptocurrency trading platform Gemini, founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, is planning to launch its services to French users. According to CNBC, Gemini has received certification as a virtual asset service provider from the French Financial Market Authority (Autorite des marches financiers) and plans to provide services to retail and institutional clients in France in the coming weeks. Gemini will offer trading on 70 cryptocurrencies, accessible via Gemini’s website, mobile app, Gemini eOTC and ActiveTrader platforms.

Gemini's entry into the French market comes as trading volumes continue to grow. According to data from The Block, Gemini’s spot trading volume reached $15.8 billion in December 2023, a 26.4% increase from the previous month.

Furthermore, Gemini is not the only cryptocurrency company bullish on the French market. In December 2023, stablecoin issuer Circle also obtained conditional registration as a digital asset service provider from the AMF and appointed Coralie Billmann as head of French operations.
