With the rise of GameFi, the Initial Game Offering (IGO) is gaining popularity among cryptocurrency investors. The IGO allows you to pre-purchase NFTs or tokens of a video game on the blockchain in its early development stage.
IGOs are usually organized through launchpad platforms. Usually, investing through launchpads requires participants to lock the platform's native token in escrow for a certain time. Depending on the project, participants can get early access to the video game's tokens or NFTs. In some cases, tokens and NFTs purchased from the IGO can be traded outside of the gaming ecosystem on decentralized exchanges and NFT marketplaces.
