According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) seized Bitcoin seized from a criminal in 2019, but the bureau was unable to access the Bitcoins despite their value soaring to US$345 million.

According to the Irish Times, CAB has been unable to access bitcoin stored in 12 wallets for the past four years, during which time the price of bitcoin has risen from around $9,000 to its current level of over $62,000.

The criminal claimed to have hidden a file containing a Bitcoin wallet seed phrase in a fishing rod box at a rental property, which was lost after his home was burglarized, although cleaning the house after his arrest could have also led to the loss of the file.
