According to Blockworks, Indian financial giants Nandan Nilekani and Siddharth Shetty are promoting a new financial system called "finternet". The system aims to unify financial systems of different asset types and geographical locations through blockchain technology. Nilekani is the co-founder of Infosys, India's sixth largest company, and Shetty served as an advisor to the Indian Ministry of Finance. The two showed the early stages of the project at Global Fintech Fest and Solana Breakpoint, demonstrating the settlement of a 2,000 rupee transaction on Solana.

The Solana Foundation and Superteam India are also involved in the development of the project. Although the “finternet” project is still in its early stages, the well-known people and institutions behind it indicate the potential importance of the project.
