According to PANews, the official blog of Polygon Labs announced that the Polygon zkEVM testnet will soon usher in a new sorter Eggfruit upgrade. This upgrade will improve performance and stability, benefit developers and dApps, and affect chains built using Polygon CDK.

The Eggfruit upgrade was launched on the testnet on September 20, 2024, and will be officially pushed to the mainnet beta version after a 10-day lock-up period, that is, at 18:30 Eastern Time on September 30. During the upgrade, there will be about two hours of maintenance, and the Polygon zkEVM beta version will be suspended.

Since the Eggfruit upgrade involves the PolygonZkEVM.sol consensus contract, the lock-up period is set to protect the safety of developers and users and follow the network governance model. Developers have enough time to withdraw funds before the upgrade.
