Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen has denied any connection to a group claiming to re-release the game and said he does not support cryptocurrencies, Cointelegraph reported.

On September 15, Nguyen posted on X that he did not sell anything and had nothing to do with the game. Previously, on September 13, a group called The Flappy Bird Foundation announced that it would re-release Flappy Bird.

The group said it had acquired the rights to Flappy Bird from Gametech Holdings LLC, which opposed Nguyen's trademark application last year and was awarded the rights in January.

Discovered by researcher Varun Biniwale, the group’s hidden webpage hints that new games may involve cryptocurrencies, including launching on Solana and a “play-to-earn” model.

Biniwale noted that Michael Roberts of 1208 Production is leading the return of Flappy Bird, but Roberts has not yet responded to a request for comment.
