Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently expressed mild support for Google’s automatic login feature on social media, but his post about the duel attracted more attention, Cointelegraph reported.

Buterin, in an interaction with users on the Farcaster platform, discussed the issue of third-party authentication services such as Google Sign-in. He expressed concerns about the “normalization” of using these services in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, but also mentioned that these services can serve as a bridge to security systems through account abstraction.

On Sept. 4, Buterin acknowledged that his Google-to-crypto bridge concept had shortcomings, but he insisted that such a bridge could be a net positive for adoption.

Additionally, Buterin recently floated the idea of tokenizing cities on social media, but his post about dueling was more popular. On Farcaster, he commented on a discussion about the history of dueling, noting that prediction markets allow for real risk and personal consequences behind speech.

Meanwhile, X-Platform owner Elon Musk responded more enthusiastically to the dueling discussion, saying he has a small collection of dueling pistols.
