According to Odaily Planet Daily, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced a new initiative under Japan's digitalization plan to increase the mainstream adoption of digital public products by businesses and consumers.
The initiative, called “Demonstration Project for Building Digital Public Goods Using Web 3.0 and Blockchain,” aims to develop novel practical use cases for blockchain in Japan.
Led by METI, the initiative has attracted several industry leaders including PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Rakuten and NTT Digital to join the pilot study.
