Bank of England cuts interest rates for first time in more than four years

The Bank of England announced its first interest rate cut in more than four years on Thursday, lowering the benchmark rate to 5%, according to Wu. Policymakers ultimately voted 5-4 in favor of the rate cut. The Bank of England will hold its next meeting on September 19 to discuss policy measures, and will hold two more meetings in November and December this year.
