According to PANews, OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati recently revealed that the company's new generation of artificial intelligence model GPT-5 is expected to be launched at the end of 2025 or early 2026, marking that artificial intelligence technology may usher in another major leap.

GPT-5, internally codenamed "Gobi" and "Arrakis," is a multimodal model with 52 trillion parameters, compared with about 2 trillion parameters for the previous generation GPT-4. Murati likened the progress from GPT-4 to GPT-5 to the leap from the high school level to the college level, indicating that the new model will have a significant increase in complexity and capabilities.

It is worth mentioning that this release time is quite different from early rumors. The market had predicted that GPT-5 might be released at the end of 2023 or the summer of 2024, but Murati’s latest statement postponed the time to the end of 2025 or early 2026. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has emphasized that there is currently no fixed release schedule.
