Holders of singer Iggy Azalea’s MOTHER coin may soon be able to use the cryptocurrency to buy phones and monthly plans from the singer’s telecom company, CoinDesk reported. This comes as part of a broader effort to increase the cryptocurrency’s utility following the launch of a MOTHER merchandise store last month. MOTHER has risen 18% in the past 24 hours, outpacing growth in the meme coin space, according to data from DEXTools. The CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20), a measure of the broader crypto market, fell 0.3%. “Tomorrow I’m finally relaunching the telecom company I co-founded, and you’ll be able to buy a phone, or a monthly phone plan, with $MOTHER or Sol,” Azalea wrote on X. She said in a follow-up tweet that Unreal Mobile is the service provider for the phones and will have a range of phones available for purchase if needed. The payment infrastructure will be handled by Sphere Labs, which as of Monday did not offer a native token.
