According to Odaily, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York has issued charges against three UK citizens for their alleged involvement in the 2021 Evolved Apes NFT scam. The individuals are accused of telecommunications fraud and money laundering, with each charge carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
The indictment states that the trio collectively profited from 798 Ethereum, which was worth approximately $2.7 million at the time. They are alleged to have transferred the misappropriated funds to their private accounts through multiple cryptocurrency transactions.
