According to Odaily Planet Daily, a Russian government-appointed expert committee has proposed imposing huge fines on suspected cryptocurrency miners operating in residential buildings to curb power outages in some parts of the country. The report revealed that the fines levied will be calculated based on commercial electricity prices usually imposed on industrial enterprises. The authorities may also consider amending the Administrative Offenses Code to hold those who abuse electricity accountable.
