According to Odaily Planet Daily, the Indonesian government agency Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Authority (Bappebti), whose duties include regulating cryptocurrencies, has set up a special committee to regulate the industry. The agency, called the Crypto Asset Committee, was established in accordance with regulations issued in January. In Indonesia, cryptocurrencies are considered a commodity and therefore fall under the jurisdiction of Bappebti. Kasan, head of Bappebti, said at the opening ceremony of BLK 2024 in Jakarta on May 2 that the committee will be a driving force to ensure that the crypto asset industry continues to operate smoothly and remains within the applicable legal framework. He emphasized that optimizing the role of the Crypto Asset Committee should be the focus of deploying the current crypto asset ecosystem.
