According to Odaily Planet Daily, Luo Boren, head of securities product development at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, said that following the SFC's approval of virtual asset futures ETFs for public sale in Hong Kong on October 31, 2022, three virtual asset futures ETFs investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum futures were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Since its launch, this batch of ETFs has been favored by investors, with the average daily trading volume increasing from HK$8.9 million in 2023 to HK$51.3 million in the first quarter of 2024, while attracting HK$529 million in capital inflows. As of the end of March 2024, the total market value reached HK$1.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 255%. In December 2023, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission announced that it would allow virtual asset spot ETFs to be listed, further enhancing Hong Kong's status as a cryptocurrency center and making the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the first exchange in Asia to allow such products to be listed.
