According to WuSay, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Angus King sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, asking what measures the U.S. government is taking to deal with Iran's growing cryptocurrency mining activities. The letter mentioned that Iran is using cryptocurrency mining as a means to circumvent sanctions, which has become a direct national security threat.
The senators also noted that Iran has become a major global Bitcoin (BTC) mining region, with its central bank channeling cryptocurrencies to finance the economy. In addition, the senators mentioned Iran’s links to cryptocurrency money laundering and ransomware operations.
