According to Bloomberg, Spanish IT consultant Alejandro Cao de Benós is the West's main contact for business exchanges with North Korea, and he also serves as North Korea's semi-official spokesman. In May 2020, he was accused of violating US sanctions against North Korea. In April 2022, American crypto researcher Virgil Griffith was arrested by the FBI for participating in a meeting in North Korea. British crypto entrepreneur Christopher Emms was also targeted by the FBI for helping to organize the meeting. Despite this, Cao de Benós said he was just one person against the United States, an empire with huge resources, which has invested millions of dollars to destroy North Korea. Despite the best efforts of US authorities, they have failed to arrest any of the main players. Cao de Benós, whose passport is currently seized by Spain, claims that the United States has withdrawn its extradition request for him.
