According to CryptoPotato, for the first time, a cryptocurrency company has used blockchain technology to select an athlete as a brand ambassador for a sponsorship agreement. The Polkadot community has just voted to sponsor IndyCar racing star Conor Daly as the Polkadot brand ambassador for the upcoming Indianapolis 500. The event will be held on May 26th, marking the beginning of a year-long partnership between Polkadot and Daly. This agreement will go beyond the track, and Polkadot will host interactive community events and digital initiatives to attract Daly's fans and introduce them to the cross-chain network.

The proposal to select Daly as Polkadot’s brand ambassador passed with 95.8% of the vote, representing a shift away from traditional sponsorship approaches, where negotiations take place behind closed doors. Polkadot says its decentralized approach to the protocol is pioneering a new way to engage in sponsorship, prioritizing transparency and community-led decision-making through blockchain technology.
