According to the Odaily Planet Daily report, ByteTrade Lab and the FHL Vive Center at the University of California, Berkeley announced their cooperation to launch the decentralized AI infrastructure project GaiaNet. GaiaNet is a decentralized network that provides secure, censorship-resistant and monetizable artificial intelligence agents that combine individuals’ proprietary knowledge and skills while protecting privacy.

GaiaNet builds a distributed network of edge computing nodes controlled by individuals and enterprises, hosting fine-tuned AI models. Each GaiaNet node is a digital twin of a real-world expert or personality, such as a college teaching assistant, high school teacher, cryptocurrency trader, or customer service agent, performing skilled knowledge tasks on behalf of its creator or operator. At the FHL Vive Center, GaiaNet drives the adoption of small language models to provide interactive and educational AI teaching assistant services to a wide community of students.
