According to TechFlow, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has publicly solicited public comments on a proposed rule change that would allow options on Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to be listed and traded. In a notice published on February 23, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) requested a rule change to allow Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITC), Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), and "any trust holding Bitcoin" to trade options. As stated in the notice, if the rule change is approved, options will be traded "in the same manner as options on other ETFs on the exchange, including commodity ETFs." This means that options will be subject to regulation regarding listing standards, expiration dates, exercise prices, minimum price changes, position and exercise limits, margin requirements, and customer accounts and trading suspension procedures.
