According to TechFlow, Próspera, a special economic zone on Roatan Island in Honduras, adopted Bitcoin as legal tender less than two years ago. Now it officially uses Bitcoin as a unit of measurement for the market value of goods and services. Bitcoin can be used to measure the market value of various goods and services within the Próspera area.

Currently, the region is not able to implement the “final Bitcoin tax payment procedure” due to technical limitations and regulatory issues. Once the issues are resolved, entities will report tax liabilities to Próspera ZEDE in Bitcoin. Those interested in using Bitcoin as a unit of measurement must submit a notification to Próspera’s Tax Commission within 30 days of the relevant tax period.
