As reported by CryptoPotato, Shiba Inu, a popular meme token associated with the Shibarium network, has seen an unprecedented 821% spike in its burn rate over the past 24 hours. According to Shibburn.com, different investors have burned 79 million SHIB tokens during this period. A closer look at the data shows that most of the tokens were burned by about 3 wallets. The most recent SHIB burn record was a few minutes before the writing of this report, when wallet 0x7d0c490 burned about 1,660,008 SHIB. This wallet has previously completed several token burns, burning 657k SHIB and 4.8 million SHIB respectively. In total, wallet 0x7d0c490 burned about 7 million SHIB. During the same period, another wallet 0x009bb72 burned about 695.6k SHIB tokens. However, wallet 0x4be2b2c4 burned at least 71 million SHIB during this period. This wallet completed about 14 burn transactions, with the largest single burn being 21.2 million SHIB. There were also several large burns of 8 million and 6 million tokens. This wallet holder has also been on a token burning spree recently, burning hundreds of millions of SHIB in the past 7 days. The recent increase in the burn rate is surprising, as SHIB's burn rate is decreasing. The increase has had a slight impact on SHIB price. During the high burn rate surge in the past 24 hours, SHIB reported some slight price increases. During this period, SHIB rose from $0.000007565 to $0.00000769, an increase of about 1.5%. The recent burns are the reason for the price increase.
