Leading cryptocurrency mining company Stronghold Digital Mining plans to use tire-derived fuel (made from shredded car tires) for its operations in Pennsylvania, USA, CryptoPotato reported. However, burning these items is a toxic process that pollutes nearby air, water, and soil, and has therefore sparked strong opposition from local residents and environmental activists. According to The Guardian, Stronghold plans to burn tires and use the energy generated to mine Bitcoin, a practice that has sparked controversy due to its anti-green nature. Although Stronghold claims that it will reuse the waste, others believe that this process will lead to pollution and is extremely dangerous to people's health. Burning tires releases toxic chemicals into the atmosphere, which may be linked to cancer, lung disease, or birth defects.
