Microsoft has announced a $3 billion investment in India, aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. This strategic initiative, revealed by CEO Satya Nadella during the Microsoft AI Tour in Bangalore, will focus on expanding Azure capabilities, building new data centers, and training 10 million people in digital and AI skills by 2030. As part of this initiative, Microsoft plans to train 500,000 individuals by 2026, in collaboration with the Indian government’s INDIAai program, targeting students, educators, developers, government officials, and entrepreneurs. The company also aims to foster innovation in smaller cities and underserved communities by creating “AI Catalysts.” Additionally, strategic partnerships with local companies like RailTel, Apollo Hospitals, and Bajaj Finserv will leverage cloud and AI technologies to enhance business processes. This investment underscores Microsoft's commitment to transforming India's digital landscape, ensuring a skilled workforce, and supporting the country's emergence as a global hub for AI and cloud technology.
