XRP is said to be potentially becoming a currency that banks use or even the basis for a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Ripple has been working with financial institutions for years, offering technology for fast and inexpensive transactions. Although XRP is not a CBDC, its network (XRPL) could serve as the infrastructure for these currencies. If central banks adopt this technology, it would be a huge step forward for XRP adoption, although it could also increase regulation on its use.
