$BNB Suicide (from Latin: suicidium)[a] is the act by which a person intentionally causes his or her own death. It is usually the result of psychological suffering and despair derived from or attributable to life circumstances such as financial difficulties, problems in interpersonal relationships, painful illnesses, loneliness, adverse political circumstances or psychological harassment. These can give rise to a psychiatric pathology and be classified as mental disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, alcoholism or drug use. The most "important" known indicator and individual risk factor is a history of an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
