Sam Altman expects the first AI employees this year; OpenAI moves closer to AGI

Sam Altman, the director of OpenAI, said: "We are now confident that we know how to build AGI in the way we still understand it".

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, stated that the first artificial intelligence agents could join the workforce this year as his company moves closer to developing human-like general artificial intelligence (AGI).

“We believe that by 2025, we could witness the first AI agents 'joining the workforce' and significantly changing the productivity of companies,” Altman said in a blog post titled “Reflections” on January 6.

AI agents or AI agents are artificial intelligence systems that exhibit the ability to make autonomous decisions and goal-directed behavior. They can autonomously understand complex objectives, make decisions, take actions with minimal human intervention, and perform multi-step reasoning processes.

The CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, is also confident that AI agents will become popular. "We are starting to see businesses adopting AI agents really as the latest craze," he said during the company’s earnings call in November.

Meanwhile, Altman said OpenAI could design and build general artificial intelligence, helping AI gradually get closer to providing human-like intelligence.
