The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has received a license to offer derivatives in Europe through the acquisition of a subsidiary of the Cypriot company Bux. The MiFID II license, acquired in October 2024, will allow Coinbase to expand its services in the markets of EU countries. This information appeared on the resources of the trading platform.
The acquired license grants the right to offer derivatives in Europe using a simplified procedure, which eliminates the need to obtain separate permissions in each country.
Coinbase has renamed the acquired subsidiary to Coinbase Financial Services Europe. The launch of operations based on the license is expected in 2025.
