BRICS Announces Intention to Embrace Trump Amid Threat of 100% Tariffs
One of the BRICS member countries, India through Trade Minister Piyush Goyal, wants to establish cooperation with the United States in the upcoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump. This was expressed when there was a threat of 100% tariffs on BRICS countries.
The event aims to strengthen economic relations between India and the United States which may have an impact on BRICS member countries. Goyal looks forward to the deep and substantive engagement of the new US administration.
"We look forward to a very deep and substantive engagement with the new US administration," said Goyal.
Goyal added his prediction that India's trade in goods and services could exceed US$800 billion in fiscal year 2024 or 2025 at the end of March. In addition, bilateral relations between the two, India's largest trading partners have exceeded US$118 billion in 2023/2024 with a surplus of US$32 billion.
