Dogecoin Continues to Rise as Fartcoin Hits All-Time High on AI Buzz
Dogecoin is regaining popularity, up 18% YTD, Bitcoin surpasses $98K and Fartcoin hits new highs
Dogecoin is gaining new momentum, jumping about 11% in the past 24 hours to extend its gains over the past two days — and another meme coin is even hotter, thanks in part to the recent buzz around AI-related tokens.
Dogecoin price hit $0.375, its highest level since December 18 amid a broad market selloff. Dogecoin is now up 18% since the start of 2025, recovering from a low of below $0.27 on December 20.
The original meme coin saw a sharp rise this fall on the back of prominent fan Elon Musk’s support for Donald Trump during the election campaign, then took off alongside bitcoin and other major assets after Trump’s victory. Doge then peaked at $0.48 in December, marking the asset’s highest price in three years.
Dogecoin wasn’t the only major asset to gain momentum on Friday. It wasn’t even the biggest gainer among the top 10 coins by market cap — that honor goes to Cardano, which jumped 15% on the day to a current price of $1.10.
In contrast, Bitcoin is up just 1% on the day to $98,275, with Ethereum up more than 3% to nearly $3,600.
Another meme coin in the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap is celebrating a new milestone on Friday as the recently soaring Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) hit a new all-time high price of $1.53 just a few moments ago.
Fartcoin is rising in value in part due to its association with the AI-powered Truth Terminal account, which came up with the coin’s name before it was created by an anonymous human and launched via the Solana meme coin launchpad Pump.fun. It’s now up 57% over the past seven days.
