Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner of Dragonfly Capital, thinks that the artificial intelligence-powered “AI agent” craze will make its mark on the crypto industry in 2025, but will lose its appeal after a while.
Qureshi notes that the current AI agent trend is not actually fully autonomous. According to him, these “agents” are more like chatbots with human control, associated with meme coins, and able to share on social media (especially on the X platform). However, Qureshi highlights a project called Freysa as an example of a truly autonomous AI.
Qureshi still expects the AI agent trend to accelerate in 2025. He thinks chatbots will replace human crypto influencers and meme coins will lose market share. But by 2026, he predicts that people will react to the trend as these bots become more widespread and interest in human creativity will rise again. He predicts that chatbots will adapt by trying to appear human or becoming fully autonomous “cheater bots.”
Qureshi said, “In the future, they will generate income not through meme coins as they do today, but through sponsors, referral links and promoting the tokens they hold, like human influencers,” adding that there will be “AI disclosure scandals” in the future and discussions will flare up when some popular personalities turn out to be chatbots.
Stay tuned.
