The total market capitalization of artificial intelligence (AI)-related meme tokens has surged to a staggering nearly $11 billion recently. Among these highly speculative assets leading the 2024 AI and memecoin narrative, three are at the forefront.
Fimbold retrieved data from CoinGecko’s aggregated “AI meme coin” market cap as of January 2, 2025. As of the time of writing, the total market cap of AI meme coins is exactly $10.9 billion, up 25.3% in 24 hours.
However, three tokens account for more than 40% of the category, with a total market cap of nearly $4.6 billion.
These leading AI-related cryptocurrencies are AI16Z, FARTCOIN, and ZEREBRO, with market caps of $2.5 billion, $1.37 billion, and $715 million, respectively.
Essentially, the cryptocurrency aggregator defines this category as “AI-related or AI-inspired memecoins. They either utilize AI-driven agents, are created using AI tools, or derive their concepts from AI technologies and trends.”

Top 3 AI Coins
The largest AI meme coin by market cap is ai16z (AI16Z), an AI-managed crypto fund managed by ai16zDAO.
The project is named after the famous Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (often abbreviated to a16z). However, it is reportedly not related to Andreessen Horowitz in any way, but is a satire (or meme) used to create a sensation.
Interestingly, DAO members are also token holders who can provide investment advice to the AI – the Large Language Model (LLM).
AI16Z is currently trading at $2.28. According to Ejaaz (@cryptopunk7213), its market cap has increased by over $1 billion in the past five days alone. We believe that AI16Z and Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUALS) will “price L1 this cycle” and expect capital inflows to increase.
Binance Futures has reportedly just launched derivatives trading for AI16Z, ZEREBRO, and GRIFFAIN. FARTCOIN, the second-largest AI meme token by market cap, has been trading on the platform since late December.
At press time, FARTCOIN and ZEREBRO are trading at $1.39 and $0.70, respectively.
